I’ve graduated, now what?

I’ve been so busy, has it really been two years since my last post?!? So much has happened since then a whole heap of emotions stress, anxiety, joy and a whole load of peace. We’ve welcomed three bundles of joy into the Holland/Preston family when people say happiness is being an auntie they’re really not lying!

Not only that I’ve accomplished one of my biggest milestones to date (well so they say) I FINALLY graduated..since then my university bubble has well and truly popped. I’m currently in the “what happens now” phase, they seem to conveniently leave that part out of the prospectus. When you’re actually at uni you find yourself in this “bubble” with all the impressive university employment statistics; you find yourself thinking once you’ve got that expensive piece of paper and thrown your mortarboard in the air that a month or two down the line you’ll have THAT job (well thats what I thought anyway). For some graduates that’s the case and that is amazing!! Well done, you’ve done so well however for others, like myself, it unfortunately isn’t that smooth.

It’s been nine months since my graduation as I get closer to the ‘one year’ milestone and with the next school years graduations approaching. You start to feel the pressure building when you realise you still don’t have a grad job and truth be told a lot of mine I put on myself with my high expectations. You find yourself constantly scrolling through recruitment websites signing up to all the job alerts possible, it becomes quite an obsession. I’ve now realised that IT’S OK that I don’t yet have a graduate job, keyword there being YET. We can’t plan every aspect of our lives it’s not in our timing, it’s out of our control everything WILL come together. I have to have patience in the process and try to enjoy this crazy season! If anyone who is reading this is also in the same situation hold tight, don’t give up! Try and remember how happy/relieved/excited we were on graduation day..WE’VE GOT THIS!!

Dresses steal the show at the NTA’s!

Every time i see an advertisement for an awards event that feeling you get at christmas eve arrives with the excitement to see what all the celebrities are going to be wearing. Sometimes people don’t always get it right but this year some of the stars got it spot on including Michelle Keegin, Fearne Cotton, Rochelle Hulme, Jacqueline Jossa just to name a few!

Michelle Keegin’s wore a mint green Philip Armstrong number which i fell in love with the minute it caught my eye, Jacqueline Jossa wore a stunning Yuvna Kim dress with the use of sheer fabrics and floral embellishments really makes this dress special! Rochelle Hulme wore a flattering purple lace floor length sleeved dress looking very classy. I have always admired Fearne Cotton so when she turned up to the red carpet in her white floor length embellished dress she looked stunning! Abbey Clancy wore a flawless red gown with a stand collar and a split in the skirt, Georgia May Foote also wore a flattering dress with fabulous embellishment detail that really emphasised the figure. The dress Jodie Albert wore had gorgeous white detailing on her gown, I love how Caroline Flack dressed up her outfit i love her style!

Lottie Moss is the new Kate?

Kate Moss turned 40 this week and with over 20 years experience in the industry she’s the perfect mentor to any upcoming model. People always say younger sisters look up to their older sisters and it looks like Lottie is stepping into her big sisters shoes as the 16 year old beauty has just been signed by Storm Model Management. The exact same agency that signed her elder sister. The fresh faced English rose has got everyone talking since she first appeared in the limelight at Kate’s wedding at the young age of 13, will she make it as big as Kate? I’m sure she will, I wish her all the best!

British label to show at Paris couture week!

The incredible British design duo ‘Ralph and Russo’ have been invited to show at Paris couture fashion week. Even though the pair are originally from Australia we adopted them as our own when they launched their label here in the Uk, London only six years ago. What an amazing six years its been for them as they started with just one sewing machine, you’d think with having some of the highest paid celebrities including Beyonce and Angelina Jolie being their biggest fans, its every designers dream. To hype up their achievement even more according to the sunday times they are the first brits since 1915 when designer Lady Duff-Gordon was invited to show in the early 20th century. I wish them all the luck in the world!

Naomi Campbell & John Paul Peitrus raise money for Typhoon Haiyan

If you havent heard about ‘Typhoon Haiyan’ seriously where have you been? Since this devastation hit the Philippines on Friday, its been all over the news and social media we haven’t seen anything like this since the tsunami with the death toll now being over 10, 000 people. Many people are donating money to help fund rescuing the survivors in need. Combining my love of fashion and charity the catwalk model Naomi Campbell and photographer John Paul Peitrus they have both agreed to sell signed pictures for £20 each with all the funds going to the red cross disaster fund. This isn’t the first time Campbell’s wanted to help those in need she set up ‘Fashion For Relief’ in 2005 which has helped people from many natural disasters including Hurricane Katrina and the Haiti Earthquake. A truly inspirational model.

More than 1 million pound has been raised by the British Red Cross up to now. If you would like to donate any money directly to help the people of the Philippines since Typhoon Haiyan then visit http://www.redcross.org.uk/typhoonappeal

All a bit too GaGa?

As we’ve seen across recent months with Miley Cyrus taking controversial to a whole new level, from the ‘twerk’ to the naked wrecking ball. Saying this its fallen into Miley’s favour were her music career is concerned as she had a number one single and album in the same week! Even though her ‘role model’ innocent, pretty Hannah Montana star has been completely destroyed. It looks to me like Gaga has got a bit jealous of Cyrus having all the lime light. So while GaGa’s been in London she really has stepped up to another level turning many heads as she’s worn a geisha inspired outfit, feather head piece, a nude underwear set on the X Factor to stripping on stage at a secret G.A.Y performance.  I love the way GaGa is experimental with fashion it’s like she lives to surprise her audience one things for certain she certainly knows how to put on a show! What else are these girls going to do?
